‘Bread, Hlib Hleb’ began as a research project into the Ukrainian production of grain, documenting the processes of wheat to flour to bread as a reflection of the oppression Ukraine has faced at the hands of Russia for centuries.

A cycle speaks of the harvest, of Ukraines fertile wheat fields, memories of the USSR haunt this tool. The monotonous grinding, to make wheat into bread, physically demanding. The sound of the grinding of grain not to be confused with the tread of russian tanks on the ukrainian border.
